matters

Because Art Matters (BAM), is a contemporary art platform and gallery that promotes and amplifies synergies between artists, art lovers, and a community of art collectors and investors that are searching for fine art and exclusive limited-edition artworks that break formal and conceptual boundaries.

Whilst working alongside a diverse roster of both national and international established artists, BAM focuses on the new contemporary art movement, spanning across various genres including fine art, street art, visionary art, sculpture, and the infinite connections in-between.

Because Art Matters curates and produces a distinct array of solo and group exhibitions throughout the year as well as collaboration projects and bespoke private art collections.

Black Mamba is a Vintage and second-hand clothing store, it has existed in a virtual format since 2014, but it was only in 2023 that it became a physical store here at 8 Marvila. Word passes from mouth to mouth. Taste is cultivated by sharing with our loved ones. A glass that celebrates another, a hug that spreads and distributes. From cup to cup. From mouth to mouth.

We emerged without plans, without an Excel sheet, just out of the desire to bring good quality wine to our friends (and their friends), incredible stories, excellent producers, some small and little known, others bigger and inevitable!

The possibility of being able to help create the perfect marriage between wine, personal taste and each situation is, for Pedro Moura, a passion. Whether for a dinner with friends, a celebration, an event, a special offer or for your personal wine cellar.

elisa rezende tatoo studio

Born in Brazil in 1992 and brought up in Portugal, the plastic and tattoo artist has had multiple addresses throughout the years like the UK, Australia, and Finland. Amongst Elisa’s works, one finds gallery exhibitions, creation of several clothing lines, collaborations with brands and music artists, tattooing and artistic production in festivals and events.

Her goal in art is to explore what it is to be a human being in the rawest way possible. The artist is fascinated by all the contradictions, repressed desires, sexual fantasies, cultural conditionings, and the messy internal lives we all experience.

In her new Art Gallery in 8Marvila, Elisa brings her most visceral work to date. The premise was her “Morning Pages” ritual. The term, coined by author Julia Cameron, suggests that every morning, before attending any of the world’s demands, an artist should write all there is in their mind to the blank pages in front of them. This purge is meant to help self-organize and get creativity to flourish.

Luísa Pereira da Fonseca

Representing the Abel Pereira da Fonseca clan, being their great-great-granddaughter, Luísa creates a homely atmosphere in her space in order to involve and welcome the public in a sensorial and sharing moment. She exhibits and sells her painting works involved in decoration and music, so that the public can enjoy a unique moment. The space is volatile and is characterized by its constant change, the artist adapts her own interior environment to the exterior, relating her artistic language: from the seasons of the year, cold to warm colors, to the VAL DO RIO wine that the artist offers to complement the audience experience.

The artist develops site-specific paintings in urban and real estate spaces. In her expressive painting, she relates to fast and impulsive gestural movements, strong and striking strokes creating a reflection of her spirit on the canvas.

The evident and striking contrasts in her works represent the power of complementary opposing forces. The site-specific three-dimensionality strongly added to her creative expression. From the screen to the common space, she creates unique installations for a specific space, challenging the perspective of the observer's gaze and their interactive freedom. All of her works are accompanied with poetry so that the language is communicated in a way that creates a possible connection with the viewer, exploring the potential of inner strength.
